Hygiene-compliant metering in the food industry
Low-pressure metering pumps now suited to sensitive food applications
ProMinent’s low-pressure metering pumps can now be used in direct contact with foodstuffs. The construction and materials used all comply with the European Food Contact Regulation 1935/2004.
As a leading provider of metering technology and water treatment solutions, ProMinent attaches great importance to the quality and safety of its products. A pump construction in line with the strict requirements of the EU Food Contact Regulation 1935/2004 provides customers in the food industry with the certainty that the metering pumps comply with the requirements for sensitive use in food-related applications.
Suitability for use in the food industry covers various pump types, including diaphragm pumps with a dosing rate of between 1 ml/h and 1000 l/h, such as the models beta , gamma/ X , gamma/ XL and sigma , as well as peristaltic pumps with a dosing rate of between 10 ml/h and 410 l/h , such as the models DULCOFLEX DFXa and DULCOFLEX DFYa .
Hygiene-compliant metering with the Hygienic Design
Particular mention must be made of the motor-driven metering pump sigma Hygienic with its Hygienic Design. This means that all the components of this pump comply with the applicable directives and standards for use in production areas with sensitive hygiene requirements, including the European directives covering machinery which comes into contact with foodstuffs. The simple construction and smooth surfaces of the liquid end, which are virtually free of gaps and are optimised in terms of dead space, form the basis for the Hygienic Design, making simple CIP and rapid disassembly possible.
Thanks to this additional option, food manufacturers can safely meter media in food-related applications in compliance with hygiene requirements.
