Donation to the City of Heidelberg

The study furniture of Felix Wankel, the inventor of the Wankel rotary engine, will be retained as cultural inheritance in the science centre Heidelberg.

On the 20th anniversary of Felix Wankel’s death, ProMinent presented the inventor’s study furniture to the Lord Mayor of Heidelberg Dr. Eckart Würzner.

The furniture consists of an escritoire together with chairs, bookshelves, long case clock and wardrobe with ornamental scrimshaw.

„In the sixties we started from scratch and have grown due to patents“, says Prof. Dr. Andreas Dulger, the ProMinent president and CEO. „It would have been a pity if the furniture was scattered to the four winds“, says Dulger. The family highly identifies with the inventor. This is why by purchasing the furniture by auction they made sure that the Felix Wankel memorabilia remains in Heidelberg.

The neo-Gothic furniture has found a dignified place in the new firewarden and can be visited for free by prior arrangement and appointment (06221 58-21000).
